Hand-signed Double Hit Flatbed Giclée Limited Edition by Billy Connolly.
Inspired by one of his most memorable stand-up moments where he famously told the audience “I’m actually pale blue, it takes me a week of sunbathing to turn white”, Billy depicts a sunburned Scotsman in this piece. Despite his adoration for his mother country, Billy is adamant that it is not a place for sunbathing.
Dressing his rather red Scotsman in bold green, yellow and red tartan, Billy adds a playful edge to the traditional outfit with a final flourish of a fried egg belt buckle. Billy explains the character’s tired expression, saying “there’s no legs on his chair. That’s why he’s tired. He’s balancing on his knees.”
“The colour you go in Scotland when the sun shines on you, it’s weird. You go this red, and when you take this vest off, your skin looks that white.”
This artwork is a hand-signed double hit flatbed giclée limited edition on 100% cotton Saunders Waterford 300gsm paper.
This collection is available to purchase individually, as a framed set or unframed portfolio.

The artist
Billy Connolly
The world-famous musician and comedian's iconic artworks have no less impact than one of his legendary comedy sketches. The faceless figures possess an extraordinary self-awareness and humanity. Devoid of emotion or expression, their anonymity opens them up to individual interpretation, creating a unique bond with the viewer.
Featured by The Times and documentaries including Billy Connolly: It's Been a Pleasure, his minimalist drawings have been described as 'poignant', 'funny' and 'enigmatic' by critics.
